US Constitution
The signing of the US Constitution is over 200 years old. Below are some information that led to the signing of the US Constitution.
- 1775- The Revolutionary war which was also known as The American War of Independence, which was a war between Kingdom of Great Britain and thirteen British colonies on the North American continent.
- 1776- Declaration of Independence written; the thirteen colonies become thirteen states but are not united under one central government.
- 1781- The last battle of the Revolutionary war take place. The 13 states set up federal government under laws called the articles of confederation.
- 1786- Representatives from five states meet at Annapolis and Maryland to discuss interstate trade. Because few representatives came, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison call for another convention to be held in Philadelphia.
- 1787- The Constitutional convention begins on May 25, in Philadelphia. 55 representatives came and begin drafting the constitution. on September 17, 1787, the convention comes to a close in which the US Constitution is signed.
- 1788- The Constitution becomes the law and land after New Hampshire becomes the ninth and last state.
